An AC is an unit which control & maintain the various eLements required for keeping your space comfortable that is temperature, humidity, air cleanliness & air distribution.

Air conditioners take heat and humidity out of the air inside your home, then distribute that heat and humidity outside while returning the newly cooled air back to the house. Air conditioners never take air from outside and put it in your home. Instead, they work by cooling down the air that’s already in your home.

Compression is the first step in the refrigeration cycle, and a compressor is the piece of equipment that increases the pressure of the working gas. Refrigerant enters the compressor as low-pressure, low-temperature gas, and leaves the compressor as a high-pressure, high-temperature gas.

A condenser is the outdoor portion of an air conditioner or heat pump that either releases or collects heat, depending on the time of the year.

The evaporator is the second heat exchanger in a standard refrigeration circuit, and like the condenser, it’s named for its basic function. The evaporator transfers heat from the refrigerated space into a heat pump through a liquid refrigerant, which boils in the evaporator at a low-pressure.
Expansion valves are devices used to control the refrigerant flow in a refrigeration system. They help to facilitate the change of higher pressure of liquid refrigerant in the condensing unit to lower pressure gas refrigerant in the evaporator.
A room air conditioner’s efficiency is measured by the energy efficiency ratio (EER). The EER is the ratio of the cooling capacity (in British thermal units (Btu) per hour) to the power input (in watts). The higher the EER rating, the more efficient the air conditioner.
Indian Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio (ISEER) – Ratio of the total annual amount of heat that the equipment can remove from the indoor air when operated for cooling in active mode to the total annual amount of energy consumed by the equipment during the same period.
Every refrigerator has an energy efficiency star rating awarded according to the conditions laid down by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency. One star means that the fridge is inefficient and consumes a lot of energy, while five stars are given to the most energy-efficient appliance.
The lower the energy consumption higher the efficiency. Will define the star rating of an electrical appliance. For Example: A 3-star AC has an EER that ranges between 2.9 to 3.09, and a 5-star AC has an EER of 3.3 or above.
Copper as a metal has highly anti-corrosive properties compared to aluminium. During the cooling process, pipes comes in contact with air which causes oxidation within these pipes. Copper can better handle oxidation and corrosion for longer periods ultimately gives air conditioners a longer lifespan.
A refrigerant is chemical compound that is used as the heat carrier, which changes from gas to liquid and then back to gas in the refrigeration cycle.
The ozone depletion potential (ODP) of a chemical compound is the relative amount of degradation to the ozone layer it can cause, with trichlorofluoromethane (R-11 or CFC-11) being fixed at an ODP of 1.0. Chlorodifluoromethane (R-22), for example, has an ODP of 0.05. CFC 11, or R-11 has the maximum potential amongst chlorocarbons because of the presence of three chlorine atoms in the molecule.
An inverter compressor is a gas compressor that is operated with an inverter. In the hermetic type, it can either be a scroll or rotary compressor. This type of compressor uses a drive to control the compressor motor speed to modulate(increase/decrease) cooling capacity. Capacity modulation is a way to match cooling capacity to cooling demand to application requirements.

Unlike an inverter compressor, a non inverter compressor works on a fixed speed and do not modulate the speed of compressor as per the application requirement. It works on simple command to start cooling & stop cooling.

Site orientation drastically increases the energy efficiency of your home while decreasing the effect of your building on the natural environment. It affects the heating and cooling of your building, and when done right will help you maintain an optimal temperature in your living environment.

When put in heating mode, the reversing valve is flipped, and the flow of refrigerant through the system changes direction. The hot condenser coils now become the cold evaporator coils, and vice versa.

if you’re looking for a quiet AC, make sure it’s within 50 to 60 dB.

“The rotary compressor has more power and can therefore cool more air than a scroll unit. Rotary compressors are therefore a better option in larger central air conditioning system but might be wasted in a smaller central unit or in a window air conditioner.

Despite its ability to cool larger quantities of air, a rotary unit is actually less expensive than a scroll compressor. The price difference is passed on to the cost of the overall air conditioning unit or systems, which can become a deciding factor when choosing your unit.”

As a general rule of thumb, for AC power consumption calculation you should take, 1 ton of cooling = 1,000 watts. 1.5 ton of cooling = 1,500 watts per hour.

The consumption of 1.5 Ton spilt AC is around 3KVA (2.5KW) & 1 Ton AC (window) is around 2.5KVA (2 KW)
